What retail would you like to see come to the area?

The Planning and Zoning Commission rejected Silver Ridge's application but hinted the land's owners had a right to develop. If you realize a commercial project there is inevitable and positive, what would you like to see?

An idea the P&Z Commission can live with!
Wow, the P&Z Commission hinted they still want Silver Ridge to develop their commercially zoned property? How about a Sunday Flea Market. Rent dealer spaces for $20, but offer it Free for town residents to sell household and secondhand items in order to make some extra cash, to help pay for the coming increases in the local property taxes. Maybe the P&Z Commission could manage it for Silver Ridge. Now, that's a plan.
Still a supermarket!
My wife and I would still desire to have a small scale supermarket of some kind in that area. If the traffic was the predominate concern of the P&Z, then try something in the order of 20,000 to 25,000 sq. ft. Or better yet, combine a smaller supermarket with an ACE hardware store. I for one am tired of wasting gas driving to Wallingford or Middletown for a piece of wood or a bolt. Also if you are going to have rumors of moratoriums on commercial development or at least make it extremely difficult to allow in; then have the same stringent regulations on residential development. Don’t they go hand and hand? More housing require more services. No one seems to mind the farms being sold off for the 4 - 5K mega-mansion developments that have been engulfing the area. Isn’t that destroying the rural character of this town? Nope don’t hear any complaints on that issue – interesting.
Development?
Preferably none, but I realize that's unrealistic.
Let's check the things we don't need:
• Anything that's already been built around us at a radius of 10 miles.
Wait ... uh, that's it!
Any questions? K thx bye.
Development
That's not very realistic and contributes little to the situation under discussion!
Unrealistic?
If you are referring to my statement above, yes, it does contribute to this thread in what it doesn't say. Refer to the related Price Chopper thread.
A few ideas
What about a collection of baby/children related stores:
Baby furniture
Maternity Clothing
Children's toys
Bike and skateboard store
Comic Book and collectible card game shop
A good chinese restaurant would be nice.
Maybe a mixed use development with one and two bedroom apartments above retail space.
