Russ Greco, 84, husband of the late Ann (Micciulla) Greco, formerly of 410 Main St., Middlefield, died Thursday, Oct. 2, at Mid-State Medical Center, Meriden. He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Middletown, son of the Late Antonio and Lucy (Mazzotta) Greco.

Russ moved from Middletown to Middlefield in the 1950s with his wife and his two children. There he built his own home. He was a carpenter by trade. Through the years he has always been there with a helping hand for anyone who needed help with whatever fix-it project family or friends had. He retired from the city of Middletown Housing Authority. After that, he helped his daughter out with her businesses. He was a great cook, which he learned in the Army. His many Italian meals and carving skill will be greatly missed. Russ's family was his first love, he was always there for his three granddaughters who miss him terribly.

After he became ill, he moved in with his daughter and her family. When his illness progressed, he resided at the Village of Kensington. His family would like to thank all the staff there for the wonderful care and support that was given to him. It was hard to let him go there, but we had made the right decision. He was with his family there who treated him beyond our expectations. We are glad, Dad, that you are home with Mom now. We know she came to get you on one of your many walks. We will see you when we go for ours walks. We love you Dad, Grandpa and Great-grandpa.

He is survived by a son, Richard Greco of Middletown, and a daughter, Nancy Hersey of Middlefield. Five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services with military honors will be held Wednesday afternoon 2 p.m. at Middlefield cemetery. There are no calling hours. The D'Angelo Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
