Robert G. Smith, 68, of Barbara Lane, Durham, beloved husband of Patricia (Prue) Smith, died Monday, August 25, 2008, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford. He was born in Greenfield, MA, the son of the late George J. and Veronica (Kopinto) Smith.

Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed as a tool and die maker with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in North Haven for 42 years. He will be remembered for his optimism, friendliness, and his silly sense of humor. He was an avid fisherman, bowler, as well as a big New York Yankee and Dallas Cowboy fan.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving daughter Eleesa (Smith) Noyes her husband Joshua of South Glastonbury; two brothers, Douglas Smith and his wife Pam of East Haddam and George Smith of Old Saybrook; two adored and adoring grandchildren, Gavin R. Noyes and Kellen S. Noyes; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, August 29, at 11 a.m. in Notre Dame Church, Main St., Durham. Burial in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Middlefield will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may visit with the family at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Those who wish may send memorial contributions to CT Hospice at Branford, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405 or the American Cancer Society, 538 Preston Ave., Meriden, CT 06450.
