Ernest Joseph King, 61, of Stagecoach Road, Durham died Tuesday, Sept. 9, in Durham.

He was born April 24, 1947, in East Millinocket, Maine, to the late Louis and Mary (VanHyning) King. Ernie served in the military, raised a family of four sons and had a deep love of the great outdoors. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of hunting and fishing, but most of all, Ernie loved nothing more than being surrounded by his family and good friends, sharing a home-cooked meal and telling a story or two about the good ole days.

He is survived by his sons, Scott King and his wife, Kerri, of Durham, Steve King and his wife, Tina, of Old Saybrook and Matthew King and his wife, Rosemary, of Fort Hood, Texas; a brother, Joseph King of Durham; a sister, Sandy King of Middletown; and 10 grandchildren, Tiffany, Amanda, Justin, Joshua, Jessica, Kameryn, Dyllon, Jenni, Matthew and Michael. He was predeceased by a son, Michael King, and a sister, Carol Corson.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, at 1 p.m. at the Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St. in Middletown. Burial with military honors will be in Mica Hill cemetery, Durham.

Friends may call at Biega Funeral Home in Middletown on Monday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may send memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association, 306 Industrial Park Rd., Middletown, CT 06457.
