Durham Fair

What was/is your favorite part of the Durham Fair in 2008?

Friday

The best part of the fair by far is during the day on Friday. Nearly every one in the two towns are there, including kids just home from college to lifetime residents. It is just such a great reflection on our community.

Even though the weather was

Even though the weather was uncooperative, people's positive attitudes were not at all dampened. It was heartwarming to see smiling, upbeat, wet and muddy people out supporting their local community, taking it all in stride. What a great place to call home!

Many things.......

I am a Director for the board of Directors for the Delaware County Fair in Walton, NY. I absolutely love Fairs and have been coming to the Durham Fair (with my Father - also a Director and Fair lover) for a few years now. The first year we came we saw the Collections exhibit. We brought that idea back to our Fair and it's been a nice addition to our Grange Building. Your Collections exhibit is very impressive. Another impressive piece you have at the Durham Fair is your Farm Museum - we just love it! It brings back a lot of memories for my Dad from his childhood. And although I'm too young to have used most things in the museum, I'm not too young to appreciate their beauty. Additionally, the small Unadilla Silo you have on display is very neat - especially since Unadilla, NY is 20 minutes from my house! Also, your buildings for your animal exhibits are beautiful. And when we come there, we run into commercial vendors that are also vendors at our Fair in August - so it's always nice to see them again when we're not quite so busy working! Great job to all who help with your Fair, I can speak from experience when I say I know what it takes to put on a good Fair. I look forward to coming back again in 2009!

Brining my 67 year old mom on the pirate ship and her loving every minute of it.

There were two parts of the fair that made my weekend. Coming home from Endicott College and seeing all of my close friends and catching up. Then on Saturday and Sunday when I watched the Coginchaug Boys and Girls A cappella groups perform, they were out of this world, excellent job guys! Their director Ryan Donecker did a marvelous job! Good friends, good food, good entertainment, couldn't ask for a better weekend!

....except about the rain coming when Blake Shelton was going to perform!
